چکیده

In addition, we have taken advantage of GSD to implement under Mnova the quantitative referencing strategy known as PULCON [5]. It is well known that when dealing with biological samples containing lipids and proteins, one can not use an internal standard to perform absolute quantification of metabolites. This is due to the fact that all possible reference compounds (such as TSP or DSS) interact with large biological molecules, making the quantification error prone. By combining the GSD algorithm with a PULCON script we are able to deconvolute overlapped regions and perform absolute quantification even of metabolites whose peaks are buried under these areas. In order to verify the quality of the quantification, we have acquired spectra of a commercial cell culture medium which is a complex but well known mixture of more than 20 compounds. We then compare the metabolite concentrations obtained from experimental spectra by means of the GSD PULCON algorithm with those declared by the medium vendor.

Measuring the Performance of the Virtual Teams in Global Software Development Projects

The development teams who are geographically spread, culturally mixed and mainly depend on information and communication technology (ICT) for communication is defined as a global virtual teams (GVTs). Despite the advancement of technologies, achieving the efficient performance of GVTs remains a challenge. The reviewed literature has highlighted the importance of training and development, organi...

Localized Deconvolution: Characterizing NMR-based Metabolomics Spectroscopic Data using Localized High-throughput Deconvolution

The interpretation of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experimental results for metabolomics studies requires intensive signal processing and multivariate data analysis techniques. Standard quantification techniques attempt to minimize effects from variations in peak positions caused by sample pH, ionic strength, and composition. These techniques fail to account for adjacent signals which can l...

Keynote: Meeting Complexities Head-On: Leveraging Global Software Development for Competitiveness

Necessitated by economic and market forces, the last two decades have witnessed a quantum leap in global dispersion of software development work, signifying the emergence of Global Software Development (GSD) as an important driver of business value. Whilst most companies have jumped on the GSD bandwagon, evidence suggests that firms do not (or are not able to) systematically harness the full po...

Studying the Impact of Global Software Development Characteristics on Project Goals: A Causal Model

Despite the growing importance of global software development (GSD), a high failure rate of GSD projects is reported in the literature. In order to understand the underlying reasons, the goals of GSD projects and the special characteristics of GSD that might have an influence on these goals have to be identified. This article presents a combined literature and interview study aimed at identifyi...

Automated Requirements Elicitation for Global Software Development (GSD) Environment

Global software development (GSD) outsourcing is a modern business strategy for producing high quality software at low cost. Most of the problems in Global software development (GSD) occur due to the lack of communication between stakeholders, time zone issues, cultural differences, etc. In this paper, our main emphasis will be to improve the Value-based requirement elicitation (VBRE) steps in ...
